Background: 2 anons have already asked me questions about dieting. :)
Hi Lysa please help me. I’m really depressed about my body. I didn’t eat too much rice since last month. and i only eat a saucer-sized rice in dinner. But i feel i’m not losing weight instead i gain more weight because of my body and double chin. what should i do? :

So I have decided to compile all the useful tips I know into one post and let you guys decide what you can use. :)
NO DIET IS USEFUL WITHOUT EXERCISE — yes dieting will help you lose weight but then your skin will sag. So you have to exercise in order to tone the muscles so your skin and muscles won’t sag after you’ve lost some weight. Also, exercise helps increase our metabolism (the rate our body burns food and converts it into energy) Remember that if you are too much of a sloth and you spend your whole day eating and sitting in front of the computer without any exercise then your metabolism is slower so little amount of food can make you fat. But if you exercise, that is gonna increase the metabolism and you’ll burn fats easier! :) Find a sport or activity you love and get on with it! :)
DRINK 2 GLASSES OF WATER BEFORE MEALS —If you drink 2 glasses of water before meals, you’ll already feel full and will not eat too much.
FOR BREAKFAST, IT IS BEST TO EAT CEREALS AND MILK— Milk is protein and is already good for our body. Cereals on the other hand are a complex form of carbohydrates and take longer to digest. It means that we won’t go hungry for a longer time. Also cereals contain fiber which helps us poop regularly. :)
DO NOT EAT ANYTHING AFTER 6 PM. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DINNER BEFORE 6— This is known as the after 6 diet. It usually takes 4 hours for our gastrointestinal system to digest the food we ate. So if you eat before 6 pm then before you sleep, your body has digested your food. Why is this important? When we sleep, our body functions slow down. So does our metabolism. We do not need energy when we sleep anymore so the food we ate gets stored as fats.
NO JUNK FOODS, CHOCOLATES, CARBONATED DRINKS. — All of these are high in sugar and fat content. ‘Nuff said. :)
NO SKIPPING MEALS —Again, this just slows down your metabolism the next time you eat. And it is really bad for the health. It also destroys the brain cells making you dumber with every skipped meal.
DRINK 1 GLASS OF COFFEE/TEA PER DAY— Studies show that caffeine is good for us but in small concentrations only. One glass per day is okay. Also coffee has an anorexiant effect. Meaning that it makes us feel that we’re not hungry anymore. But remember, one per day only! And not those really strong kinds of coffee okay? :) This goes the same with tea. Tea too has an anorexiant effect
LESS CARBS, MORE PROTEIN, VEGGIES, FRUITS— Carbohydrates come in the forms of rice, potatoes, bread, pasta. Protein is meat, eggs, fish, milk. Veggies and fruits are the best! Not only are they low in fats and calories they have lots of good effects to our body too! :)
SMALL FREQUENT FEEDINGS— This is good too. Than your 3 large meals per day. An example of this would be: Breakfast: 1 bowl of cereals, snacks: 1 banana. Lunch: Half cup rice and chicken, Snacks: 1 Glass Milk Tea, Dinner: vegetables only. This makes you feel fuller but is really lesser than what you eat when you eat regularly. Also, this increases your metabolism. But with exercise too okay!
PROPER MOTIVATION— You really have to plan and set your goals. No room for sloth here. No “I will start tomorrow” That logic is flawed because tomorrow never ends. Find something that doesn’t fit you anymore and make it your goal to fit into that fabulous dress again.
I think this post is already long. LOL. Uhm. I’ll try to research some more ways and tips on dieting. Til here for now! :)
